Funding for Green technology SMEs to UNFCCC exhibition Print

For all our hardworking farmers with innovative green technologies:

WIPO will fund the participation of 60 SMEs from around the world in a special exhibition at the 21st session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The event will take place from 30 November to 11 December at the Grand Palais in Paris, France and SMEs who are users of WIPO GREEN are welcome to apply.

Successful applicants will form part of an exhibition organized by the French Institut National de la Propriété Industrielle (INPI). The aim of the exhibition is to showcase innovative technological solutions to address climate change, developed by SMEs. Funding is provided by the government of France through funds-in-trust. Preference will be given to applicants with proven technologies, but you may be considered if your prototype has been tested in a relevant environment.

Selection of participants will take into account geographical representation as well as balance of technology types. SMEs from Asia/Africa/Latin America are particularly encouraged to apply.

SEA Regional Conference on SRI 2015: Looking back Print

SEACON co-organized the SEA Regional conference on System of Rice Intensification on 25 – 28 May 2015 in the state of Kedah, also known as “the Rice Bowl of Malaysia”. The event was hosted by the Northern University of Malaysia (UUM). In attendance at the conference were 200 participants from academic, industrial, governmental institutes as well as NGOs, Farmer Networks and independent farmers representing ASEAN countries in addition to Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, USA. Malaysia being the host country, was represented by farmers from various states that included Selangor, Kedah, Kelantan, Sabah and Sarawak.

Sri-Lovely Organic Rice Farm

SEACON took part in a workshop on pre-and postharvest management of rice was organized by SRI-Mas, UKM, UPM, GrainPro Inc, KEDA and Department of Agriculture.

The workshop was hosted at the organic rice farm SRI-Lovely in Kampung Lintang, Kedah, with a group of almost 30 participants that included young aspiring farmers from MADA Rice Training Center, Koperasi Agro Belantek Sik Sdn. Bhd., BERNAS, FTC, MARDI, UKM, UPM, UUM, and NS Nature Rice.

SAFSeN-ASEAN Smart Farmers Regional Carnival was held at Maejo University, Chiang Mai from 20 - 23 January 2015, with the support from Maejo University, ASEAN Foundation, FAO, CCDKM, APTN, Intel and Microsoft. Participants from SAFSeN project partners, namely KRKP from Indonesia, SAEDA from Laos, SRI-Mas from Malaysia, CCDKM from Thailand and CAEV from Vietnam, as well as participants from Cambodia, Myanmar and Philippines were in attendance.

From 10-11 June 2014, the ASEAN Foundation and the UNDP Indonesia organised the ASEAN Forum on South-South Technical Cooperation (SSTC) to explore how this framework can encourage ASEAN cities to collaborate among themselves to take advantage of regional integration in view of the ASEAN Community being established in 2015. The forum had the intention of promoting networking and mutual cooperation towards realising the ASEAN's motto of "One Vision, One Identity, One Community".

Washington/Oslo. Indonesia has for the first time surpassed Brazil in clearing tropical forests and losses are accelerating despite a 2011 moratorium meant to protect wildlife and combat climate change, scientists said on Sunday.

Indonesia’s losses of virgin forests totaled 60,000 square kilometers — an area almost as big as Ireland — from 2000-12, partly to make way for palm oil plantations and other farms, a study said. And the pace of losses has increased.
